The Forward Scaler GUI

Overview

The forward scaler GUI puts on one screen the result of the 16 entries of the Joerger Scaler located in the classc8 crate (see 2.9) in the forward carriage in Hall B. It is connected to the 8 pair spectrometers behind the converter, and to 4 PMTs for the total Absorption Counter.

How to launch it

Launching the GUI is very easy once the GUI_launch GUI (see section 4.2) is up. Simply click on the left popup menu and select 'forward_scaler'. A window (Figure 4.10) should shortly pop-up on the screen.

How to use it

What to do ?

The GUI won't start automatically. Verify that it is almost always in run mode (``Count'' and ``Continuous'' green button clicked in the lower right). The count time has usually to be something around a second (1 or 2 seconds).

Hardware and Software

Files Information

The application is under CVS monitoring and is known as frwd_scaler. To check it out, type cvs checkout frwd_scaler. Then build it by typing make in the main directory.

There are several files of interest :

frwd_scaler/db/frwd_scaler.db
is the database file. Very similar to the scaler.db file.
frwd_scaler/medm/frwd_scaler.adl
is the main GUI.
